Yellowfin Tuna
 
Description: Fusiform, compressed; dark blue above, gray below, fins tinged yellow, finlets yellow, edges black. Snout moderately sharp, mouth terminal. Pectoral fin tip not extending beyound second dorsal fin origin; forsal fins about the same height.

Similiar Fish: Albacore has pectoral fins extending beyond anal fin origin.

Where found: Offshore on surface and mid depths in open seas, usually in deep water. found in Atlantic water from Massachusettes to Brazil. Also found in Pacific waters from California to Chile.

Size: to 6 feet and 400 pounds.

Remarks: A great tasting fish, it is the most valued of all the tunas. Often pursued by fleets of purseseine boats from around the world. Also a highly prized game fish.
