Jupiter Florida fishing has been attracting visitors and experienced anglers for many years. The name behind Waterdog Charters, Tom Henry, an attorney, came to Jupiter after practicing law in Maryland. In the same time period, Captain Marvin Steiding, who started Reel Candy Sportfishing Charters was living in Maryland, a business owner, a career law enforcement officer, and serving on the Governor’s Commission for Public Safety. While fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and thru the short offshore season in Ocean City, Maryland was fun and productive, both of us had the vision to move to Florida, and explore the waters of the Bahamas.
We found Jupiter, Florida the place to be. Captain Marvin, started chasing sailfish from Tequesta Florida just north of the Jupiter Inlet. When the marina sold, we moved slightly north to Stuart, Florida, which became home for the Reel Candy Sportfish for several years. After the sailfish season would slow down in February, we would find our way to the islands of Abaco Bahamas chasing wahoo and blue marlin. In remembrance of our friend, Reel Candy is attempting to keep the “Waterdog” a living memory fishing in Jupiter, Florida. You can now find the 47’ Reel Candy luxury sportfishing yacht at Seasport Marina, in Jupiter Florida across from the historic Jupiter Lighthouse, the former home of Waterdog Charters. Fishing on board the Reel Candy a US and Bahamian licensed charter service we offer Sailfish charters from the Sailfish Capital of the world, Stuart, and the famous “sailfish alley” Jupiter, Florida as well as Bahamas Fishing Charters in the Abaco’s, San Salvador, and throughout the Islands of the Bahamas during Marlin season. Waterdog Charters and the Reel Candy Sportfishing team has been fishing in the Stuart/Jupiter area for many years and also has provided licensed fishing charter services to visitors of the Abaco’s longer than any other foreign fishing charter service in the Abaco’s.

Sailfish Seasons premiere months are November, December, and January. Sailfish start showing up along the Southeast coast of Florida in October and usually don’t start to migrate South to Warmer weather until February. Stuart, known as The Sailfish Capital of the World where during Sailfish Season you can easily have multiple hook ups. Jupiter just a littler farther South puts us closer to the fish. The average size Sailfish is about 50 lbs to 75 lbs
Sunset Cruises and tours in Jupiter, Florida and the Jupiter Island, home of many celebrities, recording artists, and sports professionals, can be provided by Waterdog Charters. Wine and cheese top the evening off as the sun disappears providing a romantic background for your photographic moment. You will enjoy your evening for two or entertaining an entire party for an impressive evening.
Bottom fishing or deep dropping is provided on request. Although the Reel Candy is equipped to accommodate most rod-bending anglers, trolling and dredge fishing has successfully produced most sport fish including sails, marlin, dolphin (mahi) and kingfish. If you are interested in bottom fishing for snapper, amberjack, or other reef fish, please let us know at the time of booking.
The Bahamas:
Marlin Season begins in March with White Marlin and Sailfish being caught. April is the start of the Blue Marlin Season with May and June being the major Blue Marlin months in the Abacos. As the Marlin begin to migrate South we will offer charters from Harbour Island and San Salvador in late June and July. Bahamas WAHOO Season: Wahoo season begins in October and runs through April. In season it is common to catch Wahoo in the 40 – 70 lb range. Wahoo are considered one of the best eating fish. Programs and ALL INCLUSIVE trips will be available in the Abacos. Special packages are available February and March to fish San Salvador for wahoo over 100 pounds.
Bahamas DOLPHIN (Mahi) Season: Dolphin (Mahi) season begins in February and runs through June. During season the average size caught is 10 to 50 lbs with some larger ones also being caught. Last year our largest Mahi weighed in at 78lbs. Click on our photo’s tab above to see our pictures.
